Fighting (Sparring)

In Tae Kwon Do defence is the main objective. The martial art is not to be used for attacking purposes. We do, however practice fighting to perfect the moves we learn (see PATTERNS) in practical use. Sparring uses a point system to simulate fighting as best as possible keeping in mind the need for safty while practicing.

The point system is this; 1 point for punch or kick to the torso, and 2 points for a kick to the head. 5 points is a win.
