The belt system of Tae Kwon Do ranges from white, being the beginners rank, up to 9th degree black, being the highest possible. To my knowledge, there is one man at 9th degree black belt. Each belt has a meaning.

BELT	MEANING
White	Pure, beginner
Yellow	Ground, many foundations are built here
Green	Grass, growing into higher level techniques
Blue	Sky, a lot of jumping techniques at this level
Red	Sun, power is given great emphasis at this level
Black	Universe, endless learning
